20” EMMA CLEAR DOLL PARIAN BISQUE ELABORATE SHOULDER HEAD, SIGNED

What a gorgeous doll!  The Parian bisque shoulder head is signed by Emma Clear ’48 – this is an artist who made outstanding reproductions of antique doll heads from 1930-50’s.  This is a large 20” doll with firmly sawdust stuffed muslin body. The blonde hair is worn in upswept style with textured curls and chignon at top of head and gold trimmed comb worn on the left side.  The ears are pierced and she wears pearl drop earrings.  The face is beautifully painted with two tone mouth and stationary dark blue glass eyes with painted lashes.  The shoulder plate has stand-up blue ruffle with hand painted gold design and pink rosette.  This aligns perfectly with her hand tailored gown described below.  The arms and legs are satin smooth bisque, the legs have fat calves and tall blue lister glazed boots with gold edging and tassels. She is dressed in lace-up corset, cotton pantalettes with eyelet and ribbon trim, cotton petticoat with pintucks and lace at the hem, large eyelet ruffle underneath, and fully lined underskirt with label “Handcraft Dolls, Carrie A. Hall, North Platte, Nebraska”.  The main dress has elbow length sleeves and is made of lovely Crepe de chine with blue ribbon and antique lace trim.  The skirt insert has four rows of embroidered lace with pale pink ribbon trim.  This doll came to me several years ago from the estate of a former regional president of UFDC (United Federation of Doll Clubs). Her personal collection was HUGE and consisted of original dolls obtained from the artist.  This doll is perfect bisque, perfect outfitting and has been well cared for.
